TUS is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the Athena Swan Bronze Award. This prestigious accolade reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Building on a Strong Foundation

The Athena Swan Bronze Award builds upon the achievements of the Legacy Bronze Award previously held by TUS. The new accolade signifies a renewed phase in the institution’s efforts to enhance and embed equality and diversity practices.

Introduction of the Athena Swan Action Plan

In conjunction with receiving the Athena Swan Bronze Award, TUS is implementing a new Athena Swan Action Plan. This strategic plan outlines several key initiatives designed to advance the institution EDI goals:

  • Enhancing Recruitment and Retention: The plan includes measures to attract, retain, and support a diverse range of talent within TUS.
  • Supporting Career Development: It emphasises creating equitable opportunities for career advancement and professional growth for all staff and students.
  • Promoting Inclusive Practices: TUS will continue to implement practices that address unconscious bias, support flexible working arrangements, and foster a work-life balance.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: The Action Plan includes provisions for ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure the effectiveness of these initiatives and the achievement of EDI objectives.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

The Athena Swan Bronze Award represents a significant milestone but also marks the beginning of a continued journey towards greater inclusivity and equality. TUS recognises that meaningful progress requires ongoing effort and engagement from the entire community. Therefore, the institution remains committed to evolving its practices and responding to the needs of its staff and students.

Acknowledging Contributions

This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the TUS Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion team, as well as all staff and students involved. TUS extends its gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this success and looks forward to further advancements in the field of EDI.

Looking Ahead

With the Athena Swan Bronze Award as a benchmark, TUS is excited about the future and the opportunities for further progress. The new Action Plan will guide TUS in its mission to foster a more inclusive and equitable environment.
